Building Research Section (BRS)
The BRS approves alternate building materials or products that are at least equivalent to the materials prescribed in the code in terms of quality, effective time period of fire resistance, strength, effectiveness, durability and safety.

Approved materials are published as Los Angeles Research Reports (LARR).

A grading pre-inspection (GPI) can be applied for at the construction services center.

Your completed refund form and attached documents can be filed at any Office of the City Clerk or mailed to:

You may also submit your refund form at any Department of Building & Safety cashier counter. The cashier will then forward the claim to the City Clerk's Office.
