Self-Certification Program for Licensed Professionals

On April 22, 2025, Mayor Karen Bass issued Emergency Executive Order No. 6 to accelerate the permit review for rebuilding projects in areas that were destroyed in the January 2025 Wildfires, requiring the Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) to establish a plan check Self-Certification Pilot Program.

The list of Self-Certified Professionals can be found on the LADBS Roster search, under license type "Self-Certification."

Citywide Tenant Improvement Self-Certification Program

Under Assembly Bill 671, LADBS offers an expedited permit review process for interior tenant improvements (TIs) related to retail food establishments. This program authorizes applicants to utilize a qualified professional certifier to attest that their project plans and specifications comply with all applicable building, health, and safety codes. Self-Certification Program Implementation Guidelines for Wildfire Rebuild Projects

As directed by EEO6, guidelines on the implementation of the order related to self-certification have been issued. Refer to the link below for more information:

 

 

You may enroll with the online Self-Certification Application or in person with the application form at 221 N. Figueroa St, 7th Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90012 between the hours of 7:30 am to 9:30 am.

 

The following are required to enroll in the program.

 

  • Proof of professional licensure in the State of California
  • Proof of insurance
  • Proof of ICC Certification under the California Residential Code Self-Certification Program
  • Registration fee
  • Certificate of Good Conduct
